The Program |
| |
The A-Level
program at LGS 55 Main Gulberg began in 1995,
the first students appearing in the examination
in 1997.Since then, we have expanded in terms
of subjects offered as well as student strength.
Class sizes are kept limited; however, if
a large number of students opt for a particular
subject, the class is divided in sections,
in order to keep a reasonable faculty-student
ratio.
The program
prides itself on combining academic rigor
with a variety of activities geared towards
the development of well-rounded personalities.
Choosing the
programme that best suits you is important.
There are many factors that you will want to
consider. We hope that this admissions section
will help you to make an informed decision.

Features |
| |
Some
features of our program that we felt you should
know about, but may not think to ask, are briefly
described below.
Because
we are committed to intellectual growth beyond
the limits of tthe A Level syllabus, a variety
of clubs and activities dedicate themselves
to that end. Examples of past initiatives include:
-
Establishing a Literary society ,
to read and discuss literary works
of interest, and arrange related
activities, e.g. film viewing, attending
the performance of Naseeruddin Shah's
play, Ismat Apa ke Naam and Dastan
Goi by Mahmood Danish and Anusha
-
Attendance at a lecture on the politics
of globalization and development,
by renowned journalist Najma
Sadeque
-
A course on Documentary Making by Mr. Steven John Moore
|

|
|
| |
| Because
we believe there's more to education than academics,
our students: |
| |
- Run
an environment society, that is currently
running a campaign against the degreening
of Lahore , and the concomitant decline
in Lahore 's air quality
- Run
a community service program, proving
students with opportunities to volunteer
at a variety of organizations. Some
of these include the Pakistan Society
for the Rehabilitation of the Disabled,
the Rising Sun Institute, Fatima Memorial
Hospital, the Human Rights Commission
of Pakistan (HRCP), and Shaukat Khanum
Memorial Hospital.
- Run
debate clubs in Urdu and English. LGS
teams have won awards at numerous tournaments
on the national circuit.
- Put
on an annual play every year, in Punjabi,
Urdu or English and also organize an
Inter – School / Collegiate Drama Competition.
- Compete
at the International Schools Educational
Olympiad in Karachi, bringing back awards
in photography drama and group discussions.
- Have
gone on educational trips to various
parts of Pakistan and to India.

our students, we also provide:

for students interested in studying in the
US, UK, Canada, Australia or Singapore.

presentations on the Scholastic Aptitude Test
(SAT), accompained by the administration of
a diagnostic test.

a variety of fields.

there are clubs events that spring up in a given
year because of the interest of a particular
group of students.
- This
year, for example, the students have been
involved in a number of social and political
issues such as women's empowerment, the judicial
crises and the environment
